Alternatives Pregnancy Center offers many free and confidential services to women and young girls in the Cedar Valley. Within our services, we have three main programs that help women and girls in a wide variety of ways:

The Caring Connection Program offers mentoring, educational information and material items (diapers, baby clothing and equipment) for mothers and their babies starting before they’re even born until they are 6 months of age. Through the Caring Connection program, women receive emotional support as they meet bi-weekly with a Client Advocate. The Client Advocate’s goal is to offer an extra support system, as many young women are lacking support and facing their unplanned pregnancy alone. Clients also are provided with diapers and baby clothes every time they come to the center. They are given a crib or bassinette when they reach 8 months in their pregnancy. Clients also receive personal care items, parenting books, and items such as swings and bouncy seats as they are available. We also offer the option of the client and their advocate doing a bible study together during their appointments.

“I would recommend this program because they help you through it. You know you’re not alone.” – client comment

Post – Abortion Support is provided through weekly sessions as well as group meetings. Forgiven and Set Free is a bible study for women who are struggling with the aftermath of emotions as a result of an abortion(s). The program is a 12 week small group that uses the curriculum, “Forgiven and Set Free.” When clients finish the program they may also participate in a memorial service for their unborn baby. There can be great emotional struggles for women who have been through an abortion and we believe they can find healing and forgiveness. It is our goal to help them along the process of finding healing and forgiveness.

“For three years after my abortion, my heart and my spirit were broken. I came to Alternatives in despair. Through their loving support and counseling, I am full of joy and love I never thought I’d feel again.” – client comment
  • Forgiven and Set Free Bible Study starts Nov. 3rd and goes for 12 weeks. This group is lead by our Executive Director, Mary Collins. If you are interested in signing up, or you would like more information, please call the Center.
  • We also offer a Forgotten Fathers program for men who have had a child aborted. We have a local pastor who mentors men dealing with the after-effects of abortion.

Why kNOw Abstinence Education Program is available to public and private schools and churches in the Cedar Valley who would like to provide such a sexual abstinence program to their students. A combination of the school curriculum and the Christian curriculum entitled, “Why kNOw?” is presented. In addition, we offer one time presentations regarding human sexuality and abstinence until marriage to Christian youth groups. Please call the center for scheduling. We look forward to an opportunity to present this important message to your students or group!

Alternatives Pregnancy Center understands that making decisions regarding sex is difficult because of the many reasons a teen may have for being sexually active. If you are a person who would like more information about this important decision we are ready to listen and assist you in arriving at a decision which is in the best interest of your physical and emotional health. Please call the center to set an appointment to discuss these issues.

Ultrasound Services are performed by a registered nurse to show clients the development of the baby. This is a wonderful opportunity for women to see the various characteristics of their baby while it is in the womb. Ultrasounds are a great way for women to get connected, informed, and more involved in experiencing the life they hold inside them.

Options Information is provided to Alternatives clients. They receive information about alternatives to abortion, education about abortion procedures and risks, education about their bodies, their babies and how to care for both. Alternatives Pregnancy Center does not recommend or refer for abortions.

Congratulations blankets or booties are given as gifts to women who first learn of their pregnancy at Alternatives.

Angel Baskets are given to new mothers and infants to celebrate the miracle of the baby’s birth.

Referrals to other community agencies and adoption agencies are provided as needed. Sometimes knowing where to go for help is half the battle. We can direct you to agencies within our own community if you have medical, housing, childcare or legal needs.

24-hour Help Line is available 24/7, whenever a crisis occurs. A client advocate will be available to help. The Help Line is 1-800-395-HELP.
